THREE-YEAR THERAPEUTIC SPEECH TRAINING FOR DOCTORS AND DENTISTS
3-jährige fachspezifische Weiterbildung in Therapeutischer Sprachgestaltungfür Ärzte und Zahnärzte.
This course is designed to familiarize doctors and dentists with Art Therapy of Speech. This discipline, still slightly known in Italy, was born in Germany at the beginning of '900 as a therapeutic specialization in the field of "creative speech ".
Art combines expression, perception and creative will. The ability to express oneself artistically lies in every human being. This ability can be awakened and fertilize therapeutic work. In targeted artistic work, the patient experiences himself as a co-creator of his own healing process. In the encounter with sounds, gestures and movements he experiences a new level of reality, which is created through a way of forming and developing his perceptions of the world and himself. These are the foundations of Art Therapy, which has been developed from the collaboration of Dr. Rudolf Steiner with Dr. Ita Wegman.
Therapeutic Speech Formation encompasses an innovative approach to working with the voice, mouth and larynx. With its medical and anthropological foundations as well as its special therapeutic practice, it integrates and expands upon the aspects treated by speech therapy in logopedia and by the medical framing of speech and voice disorders in phoniatrics.
It exercises and activates the human's ability to move and communicate from a functional, physical, phonetic, expressive and emotional point of view as well as the point of view of the manifestation of deep personality. This is the formulation of one’s ideas and thoughts, which make it possible to reveal the specific spark of each person’s individuality.
The course aims to introduce this discipline theoretically and practically, presenting the most advanced anamnestic criteria developed in this field.
The clinical-anamnestic observations are oriented on four different levels according to a concept of the fourfold human being, which is a very dynamic model of phenomenological observation. The human being, which at first seems indivisible, when viewed in its deepest nature through four specific ways of observation, seems to be composed of a complex group of interconnected bodies. The ability to separate these bodies and to observe them individually as well as collectively in their correlations, can help us make a very specific diagnosis.
WE WILL ONLY BRIEFLY MENTION THESE FOUR LIMBS TO BETTER INTRODUCE THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE:
- Human beings have a physical body to which the laws of chemistry and physics apply, as they do to every other inanimate object in the mineral kingdom.
- Together with the plant kingdom, man has an organization of creative forces that keeps the organism alive and supports it through growth, reproduction and regeneration processes. This is the vital or etheric body.
- Animals, like man, have feelings, impulses, desires and experiences which we do not find in the plant kingdom. The organ that makes this consciousness possible is, like the etheric body, supersensitive, i.e. we can only see its phenomena. We call this organization: the emotional-, soul- or astral body.
- Man with his self-knowledge precedes the animal, he has an "I" as the fourth constitutive body, which distinguishes him from the other nature kingdoms and places him in a kingdom of his own. He can think, imagine, remember voluntarily, act on free will, express himself through an articulated sentence and be creatively active.
In Therapeutic Speech Formation, the anamnesis collection is divided into seven major areas through observation: - posture, - breathing, - voice, - speech articulation speech, - the teeth and mouth, - thinking and - the perceptive faculty of language.
We can then evaluate how each of these areas manifests differently in the four constituent bodies, so that the anamnesis is expanded to seven dimensions in each of the four levels.
In normal therapeutic practice, diagnosis according to the seven areas of observation is sufficient.
In very complex clinical cases, the patient can be perceived in his manifestation in each of the 28 observation areas, which makes it possible to produce an even more thorough, specific diagnostic picture.
The aim of this specialist course in Therapeutic Speech Formation for Doctors and Dentists is to give participants the opportunity to deepen these 28 diagnostic areas theoretically, but also practically through various exercises in creative and therapeutic speech.
In each of the 12 sessions, one diagnostic area will be treated with a specific study of how it relates to each of the four levels and to the context of the patient.
The observation of the origin of language and the therapeutic process to support proper phonation are the first parts of the work for the expansion of a therapeutic tool in this specific field; another important area for a doctor or dentist is use of the word in communication and in the patient.
The goal of developing a new awareness in this direction is proposed by deepening the method developed by the Dutch Coenraad Van Houten: "The seven ego activities in the encounter".
It is a path that leads to a deepening of one's own professional communication and conversation work on an anthroposophical basis. This path is realized in the theoretical and practical deepening of seven specific activities of observation, introspection and communication, which are practiced individually in the different sessions and consolidated in the final part of the path in order to create a practical, effective tool that meets patient’s needs. Practice-related lectures with examples of experience from the consulting profession become the basis for a variety of exercises in discussion groups.
This Specialisation Course in Therapeutic Speech Formation for Doctors and Dentists will be developed in three years and will start in 2021.
Each year the course is divided into 4 short weekends (Friday evening and Saturday) with a total of 12 modules. In addition, there is an intensive module of approximately one week for those who wish to obtain the certification of specialization recognized by the International Association of Anthroposophic Arts Therapies Educations iARTe.
Each module is divided into a part specifically dedicated to the deepening of therapeutic speech formation according to its therapeutic basis, through the direct experience of its main exercises and its diagnostic criteria.
The second part is dedicated to the acquisition of an innovative tool for communication with the patient using the ""The Seven Ego Activities in the Encounter" method.
The course is recognized as a training activity that awards training credits (points) .
